GherkinOfficially known as "30 St Mary Axe", this is London's first environment skyscraper, using 50% less energy than traditional buildings.Londoners affectionately refer to it as The Gherkin. It won the presigious Stirling Prize from the Royal Institute of British Architects for Norman & Partners, headed by Sir Norman Foster. It is really quite a sight from any angle and at any time of day. Useful, too, for navigation -- look around and orient yourself by it. |
